Sotekassa membership fee remains the most affordable
The Sotekassa membership fee in 2026 will be 42 euros per year. Työttömyyskassojen Yhteisjärjestö TYJ (Unemployment funds association) has examined the membership fees of all Finnish unemployment funds for next year. According to the comparison, Sotekassa’s membership fee will continue to be the lowest of all.
Next year, there will be a total of 12 unemployment funds operating in Finland. One of them serves entrepreneurs, and the rest serve employees. Most funds charge a fixed annual fee in euros. One employee fund and the Entrepreneur Fund charge a percentage-based fee, meaning the amount depends on salary or business income.
In 2026, employee fund membership fees will range from 42 to 102 euros per year. The average fee will be around 82 euros per year (for an employee earning 3,000 euros per month).
Although membership fees vary, all funds follow the same Unemployment Security Act. This means that the amount of benefit you receive is the same, regardless of which fund you belong to.
Examples of Fund Membership Fees in 2026:
| FUND | MEMBERSHIP FEE |
| Sotekassa | 42 euros |
| Aaria Unemployment Fund | 72 euros |
| Public and Welfare Sectors Unemployment Fund | 0,4 % of salary |
| Lawyers’ and Doctors’ Unemployment Fund | 54 euros |
| YTK Unemployment Fund | 102 euros |
If you belong to Sotekassa through a trade union, the union will pay the funds membership fee on your behalf.
For those who only belong to Sotekassa, membership fee invoices will be sent in mid-January.
